Hunting
Thousands of instate and out of state hunters travel to the Pierre area every year to experience South Dakota's finest hunting. We are known for our abundance of pheasant, grouse, prairie dog and of course geese. Pheasant Hunting traditionally opens the third Saturday in October. A small game license is needed to hunt Pheasants and nontoxic shot is required when hunting in public lands.
